MAUCO: Cohort and Biobank

It is the first cohort in Chile that investigates since 2014 for a period of 10 years, the factors that influence or prevent the development of chronic diseases, such as: cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity. Its population study includes 10,000 residents of the Molina commune in the Maule Region, who were surveyed and sampled at the beginning of the investigation and followed over time to evaluate the appearance of health events. such as hospitalizations, diagnosis of illness, or changes in your risk factors.
Desde el año 2020, MAUCO inició su período de intervención a través de MAUCO+ el cual busca estudiar el diagnóstico y prevención de la enfermedad de hígado graso y cardiovascular a través de cambios en la dieta y actividad física.
Desde el 2024 el equipo es dirigido por la Dra. Claudia Bambs, también Profesora Asociada, Jefa Departamento Salud Pública, Jefa Programa Libérate del Tabaco Red de Salud UC CHRISTUS y directora de la Escuela de Salud Pública UC.
