As of May 13, 2019, it will be taught -in the premises of the Faculty of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Chile- the Postgraduate Diploma in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology which, so far, is the most in-depth program carried out in Chile within this area.

Classes will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., completing a total of 162 hours, divided into eleven study modules.

In this regard, the academic and teaching coordinator of the diploma, Dr. Vinicius Maracaja-Coutinho pointed out that “the program is very important, since it is the first one specifically for postgraduate bioinformatics. With him, we want to advance genomic studies in Chile, since there is currently a great deficit of professionals in the area. We need trained people to be able to dedicate themselves to this issue ”.

The requirements to apply to this program are to be in possession of a university professional degree or a bachelor's degree -equivalent to the degree awarded by the University of Chile- in the area of ​​life, health or exact sciences.
