President Boric appointed Dr. Catterina Ferreccio as the new national director of the Institute of Public Health

This afternoon, President Gabriel Boric announced the appointment of Dr. Catterina Ferreccio as the new national director of the Institute of Public Health (ISP).
This appointment was carried out after a selection process carried out by the Senior Public Management (ADP) system.
According to what was communicated by the Government, Dr. Ferreccio is a surgeon who graduated from the University of Chile and has a master’s degree in Public Health from the same institution.
In addition, he has a master’s degree in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in the United States, as well as a diploma in Extension in Clinical Ethics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
From the Executive, it was also highlighted that the new director of the ISP has a vast career of more than 40 years in the field of health.
They point out that she has worked as a zone general practitioner in the Western Metropolitan Health Service, has been coordinator of the Typhoid Fever Control Program of the Center for Vaccine Development at the University of Maryland, director of the Group for the Development of Health Research, professor of Public Health and Director of the Doctorate in Epidemiology at the University of Chile.
In addition, Dr. Ferreccio has been a member of the COVID-19 Advisory Council and the Pandemic Response Committee. Currently, he is a member of the Advisory Council for Respiratory Viruses of the Ministry of Health.
